Additional Information

Why choose SWA Armored Cables for this type of application?

SWA (Steel Wire Armor) cables are used when the primary need is impact, pressure, and abrasion resistance during installation or in locations where cables may be exposed to mechanical damage. The presence of the armor provides additional rigidity to the cable compared to unarmored cables, while still being classified as low voltage cables 600/1000 volts suitable for many building applications.

Size Selection Guidelines Before Purchase (Brief)

When selecting SWA armored cables, the most important step is to ensure that the cable size of 6 mm² is suitable for the load current, length of the run, and method of installation. In projects within Saudi Arabia, it is preferable to match the size with the approved electrical plans on site to minimize voltage drop and enhance reliability. If the run is long or the load is high, a different size may be required according to the design—consult the consultant/technician before final approval.

Quick Installation and Safety Tips

  • Avoid pulling the cable forcefully during installation to prevent damage to the PVC layers or armor.
  • Ensure to maintain the appropriate bend radius during installation to avoid unseen internal damage.
  • Use suitable termination/entry accessories for armored cables to ensure tight sealing and reduce moisture or dirt ingress.

Packaging and Supply

The cable comes in a length of 1000 meters to facilitate project needs and minimize joints as much as possible. Upon receipt, it is advisable to match the label data (size, number of conductors, standard) with the purchase order to ensure that the required specifications for SWA armored cables are met on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are electrical cables that contain a layer of steel wire armor (Steel Wire Armor) which provides additional mechanical protection against impacts and pressure compared to unarmored cables, and they are typically used in low voltage applications according to the specification.
Yes, this product is classified as a low voltage cable with a voltage rating of 600/1000 volts according to IEC 60502-1, and it is used to carry current in applications where cables may be subjected to mechanical damage.
The main difference is the presence of the armor layer in SWA which increases mechanical resistance during installation and in environments where pressure or friction may occur; whereas the unarmored cable is lighter but less resistant to mechanical damage.
This depends on the load current, the length of the run, and the method of installation. It is best to match the size with the approved electrical plans on site or consult with a technician/consultant to avoid voltage drop or overheating.
Colors are often used to distinguish between the phase line and the neutral in two-core cables according to the installation practice on site. It is important to adhere to the numbering of circuits and approved diagrams during connection.
