They are primarily used to prevent assembly components from loosening, as the conical shape provides a 360-degree locking force around the underside of the screw head or nut. The ribbed top surface also further enhances the locking force around the bottom of the nut. It resists the possibility of loosening torque under pressure and vibration. Available in a variety of sizes to suit the needs of different applications.
