Product description
Stranded copper electrical cable (CU/XLPE/SWA/PVC) 3 phase + neutral line, Produced by Riyadh Cables Company, Armored with layer of steel wires (SWA) to give it mechanical strength to protect it from external pressures that fall on the cable. Insulated with XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) which provides a unique combination of strength, flexibility and reliability making them suitable for a diverse range of applications. It can withstand high temperatures up to 90°C for extended periods without compromising performance. The cable also withstands harsh environmental conditions, including moisture, corrosion and chemicals, making it ideal for outdoor use. Chloride-free, making it environmentally friendly. It is also jacketed with a high-quality PVC (polyvinyl chloride) outer sheath that provides additional protection against corrosion, heat and moisture damage. XLPE cable is commonly used extensively in power transmission and distribution systems in homes, buildings, offices and industrial applications where there is a risk of mechanical damage. Available in different shapes, sizes and conductor ratings to meet diverse application requirements.

What are SWA Armoured Cables? And when are they used?
SWA armoured cables are electrical cables reinforced with a layer of Steel Wire Armoured around the cable to enhance its resistance to impacts, pressure, and abrasion. They are a suitable choice when there is a risk of mechanical damage along the cable route, such as in outdoor areas, service rooms, or installations close to the ground. This product features SWA reinforcement with XLPE insulation and a PVC outer sheath for added protection.

Guidelines for Selecting SWA Armoured Cables for Your Project (Within Saudi Arabia)
- Determine the Type of Supply: If you have a three-phase supply, choosing 3 Cores + Neutral helps accommodate many distribution boards.
- Check the Voltage: This cable is rated at 600/1000 Volts within low voltage cables.
- Nature of the Route: When there are risks of pressure/abrasion or if the cable runs in exposed areas, SWA reinforcement is preferred for increased protection.
- Heat and Load: XLPE insulation is suitable for operation at higher temperatures compared to some alternatives, supporting stability under operating conditions.
Important Installation Warnings for SWA Armoured Cables
To ensure safe and long-lasting performance, it is recommended to use appropriate installation and termination accessories for the armoured cable (glands/terminations) and to connect grounding according to site requirements. Additionally, avoid excessive pulling and sharp bends during installation, and ensure protection at entry and exit points to prevent damage to the outer sheath.
